To start, a wee bit of background info - Collared Falconets as they exist today are a whopping 14-17cm long. That's a 5.5-6.5 inches. Okay, perhaps that's not so whopping. I upsized my fictional species to about 30-40cm, or around a foot... still not whopping, but I want them to be in the realm of believability as far as flying goes and still be a reasonable size.

Collared falconets do go trading with other villages (maybe the villages of other species of intelligent birds?) Because of their small stature, they most definitely can't carry the whole load of goods that they wish to trade. So they have domesticated a variety of non-intelligent birds to help them. This flier's beast of burden is a Himalayan Snowcock, which are moderately intelligent and can follow simple (VERY simple) commands. The costuming here is a little less elaborate than with the Haruspex, just a pack, reins, and a flight helmet, which helps make the pack a little more aerodynamic. Everything here is much more functional than ceremonial or religious.

Snowcocks also make a good food item, as do some of the other animals they've domesticated, including several species of quail and squirrels. Because of their larger size, insects no longer make up the bulk of a falconet's diet, but they do raise colonies of some different types, and also still hunt the sacred dragonfly for certain ceremonies and festivals. But more on that later. :>

Lol lovely job on the picture as well..I love the helmet..kind of looks like rocket bird ^.^
very cool! good picture, i like the feather texture on the legs, but the wing looks a bit metallic... maybe because it's too straight... but maybe it's only me :)

I used the force to push him off my young and loyal maid,
And pulled my good ol' shotgun, to shoot him in the head,
And when he went all "SPLATTER BOOM", I saw he's made of pie,
So then I ate the rest of him, in case he didn't die.
this is the kind of stuff that made me fall in love with your work

death is the road to awe
I must say, this is great :D

The lines are nice, I can't find any problems with the feathers. So good job all around.
